Scholarship Program 2008

The Manatee Rare Fruit Council has established its scholarship program for 2008. There will be one scholarship of $500.00 awarded. The deadline for submitting an application is March 1, 2008. The scholarship will be awarded on or about May 1, 2008.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

1. Is a resident of Manatee County.
2. Is a high school senior or a student currently enrolled in a two or four year college.
3. Is expected to pursue a curriculum of study closely related to our main area of interest. Curricula such as Botany, Horticultural Science, Plant Breeding and Plant Physiology would be appropriate.
4. Is a worthy and capable student who shows extraordinary determination for pursuit of their studies based upon hard work, need, character, academic competence, and leadership potential.
5. Each application packet must include:
   1. Manatee Rare Fruit Council scholarship application form.
   2. Copy of your transcript (accumulative and current).
   3. A letter of recommendation from a professional educator.
6. Completed application packets must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2008. Mail to:

8. The scholarship check will be paid directly to the recipient upon receipt of proof of enrollment. All monies are to be used only for tuition, fees, books, supplies, housing and meals.
